Matthew Churchill – Physiotherapist
Matthew is the managing Physiotherapist at the Friendlies Physiotherapy
Service in Bundaberg and brings extensive experience and knowledge to
the practice. Since graduating in 1998 from the University of Sydney
with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy), Matt has gained
over nine years of experience working in public hospitals both here in
Australia and in the United Kingdom, as well as private practice
experience in Sydney.
Matt spent two years working at the Liverpool Hospital in the UK where
he worked as an Extended Scope Practitoner in the Emergency Department
assessing and managing treatment of fractures and musculoskeletal
injuries. In addition to this role Matt also worked with a variety of
other patients throughout the hospital. Matt treated patients with
Cardiopulmonary and Musculoskeletal complaints whilst also working with
Rehabilitation and Instensive Care patients and providing Aged Care
Assessment.
During his time in Private Practice Matt gained experience in:
- Diagnosing, treating & managing sports injuries
- Post operative rehabilitation
- Injury screening for athletes
- Chronic injury management and rehabilitation
Matt is also a very active sportsman and enjoys social tennis,
squash, golf, rugby, soccer, AFL and touch football. Matt has also
competed in several triathlons, marathons and fun runs. It is this
love of sport that saw Matt take on Physio roles with state rugby and
netball squads in NSW.
Matt has a special interest in swimming screening for squad athletes
and specialises in fracture care, acute casting and post cast / ORIF as
well as lower back pain/pelvic dysfunction experienced during and after
pregnancy.
